Amazing Ideas To Take An Evening Outfit To The Next Level

*this post may contain affiliate links*

We can all be a little guilty of sticking to fashion choices that we are comfortable with. Be that during the day or at night. You may feel confident sticking with skinny jeans, or wearing the same dress you always do when you go out at night. We naturally gravitate to clothes that make us feel good and a lot of the time we wear the same type of style. However, when it comes to your evening outfit, there are a few things you can do change things up a little. So I thought I would share with you some of the amazing ideas to do just that.

Step out of your comfort zone

I appreciate that when you go out, you need to feel good. So you can have an air of confidence about you. While it’s great to be happy in the clothes you wear, it doesn’t mean that you can’t experiment a little by stepping out of your comfort zone. Start small if it seems like too much at first. For example, if you don’t normally wear heels then why not one night you give them a go instead? You might wear the same dress with tights but why not try applying a little fake tan and going it without them? There’s plenty of ways you can step out of your comfort zone without going all the way.

Do something different with your hair

Your hair can be a real statement. So if you always wear it the same, then the chances are doing something different will make a big impact. To you, it may just look normal. But to someone else you might look totally different. You could try lot’s of different things, and there is plenty of inspiration on website slik Pinterest for all hair lengths and types.

Change your eye colour

Why not consider changing your eye colour? This could be the ultimate way to change your usual outfit look. You could apply coloured contact lenses to your eyes. This will then change your eye colour. This can work wonders for themed parties or fancy dress. Or if you just fancy a change and want to feel a little different.

Try a new makeup look

Another way you could take your evening outfit up to the next level would be to change your makeup look. Perhaps you are the kind of person who wears very natural looking makeup. Then you could change things by adding a smokey eye or thick line of eyeliner. Perhaps you wear a lot of makeup so a real different look for you would be something more natural. Experiment with makeup and see how different looks can make you feel very different.

Think about your accessories

Finally, every outfit needs amazing accessories. So when it comes to styling your outfit think about what you will team with it. An eye catching bag, some bling jewellery or even just the perfect watch and earring combination. Again accessories are a great way to step out of your norm and try new things.

I hope this helps you take a normal evening outfit and make it extra special.

Handbag Hero | Bioderma Make Up Removing Wipes

Handbag heroes. We all have them. You know the one I am talking about, the product you keep in your handbag and would be lost without. Some of us also buy them in batches and keep them in all our handbags, our car, and our desk.
When the girls in Escentual asked me was I interested in trying the new Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution Make Up Removing Wipes, I said yes, but I was very skeptical. I know Bioderma products have become a very well known, their reputation precedes them, but wipes are just something I have always been skeptical of.
Wipes for me just don’t do it. They are never moist enough, there is never enough of the wipe and they always, ALWAYS, leave my very feeling rather delicate. And not in the way my current face products do. The majority of wipes I have used in the past have left my skin stinging. Especially in my under eye area.
These wipes did not do that. And the first thing that hit me about them was that they were a good size but also that there was so much moisture in them. I literally just needed one to clean my whole face and it lasted the whole time without drying out.
Why, you may ask,  does this make it a handbag hero? Well first off it was the ideal product to have while I was away at my cousin’s wedding. Crawling up to your room drunk at 5 or 6 in the morning does not normally mean you are in the mood to fully cleanse and wash your face. However these wipes did the job of removing most of my make up without leaving my face feeling sore and tender the morning after (my mum did drunkenly steal an use about half of the pack though).
I also find them great for throwing into my handbag when I am heading off out for whatever reason. You can’t always rely on the house you end up bunking in having the necessary tools to remove and cleanse the oul war paint off, so having a few wipes on hand just make it that bit easier. And they don’t particularly take up a lot of space either. is my go to site for premium beauty brands and are always the person I turn to when I want to try a new product, often having products to pre order before their general release. They will keep you in the loop with anything exciting about to be released.

What’s your handbag hero?

Revitalise Your Skin with My Sage Advice

*This post may contain affiliate links*

I hate days when I wake up and my skin feels horrible. Sometimes you just have times when your skin is not cooperating. Maybe it breaks out in spots or it feels dry or oily, or it just looks dull. When this happens, I just want to hide away and not step outside. But, unfortunately, you have to get on with life. And you can’t do it with a bag over your head. It’s not just about the way you look. When your skin is bad, it can make you feel tired or groggy, or even grumpy. You don’t have to put up with it when you feel like this, though. Check out some of my favourite ways of revitalising my skin.

A good exfoliation is one of the best ways to renew your skin. Dead skin cells can build up and make your skin look dull. Exfoliating will make the dead cells slough away to reveal the shiny new skin underneath. You don’t need any special treatments to exfoliate your skin. You can do both your face and body at home. Look for an exfoliating scrub to use on your face and one to use in the shower too. You might also decide you don’t like the shop-bought ones, especially if they have plastic balls in them. They can block up your drains and have an impact on the environment too. Another option is to make a scrub at home using something like sugar for exfoliation.

Get a Facial

If you would rather go and get pampered somewhere, I recommend going for a facial. There are lots of different types you can consider. For example, you could have a deep-cleansing facial or a facial peel. You can discover more about Dr. David Halpern and other dermatologists to see what sort of facials they offer. They should help to restore the balance of your skin so that it feels healthy. If you have any problems with dryness or blemishes, you should be able to deal with them with a good facial.

Make a Homemade Mask

As well as making a homemade scrub, you could also make a mask to treat your face. There are lots of healthy ingredients you can mix together to revitalise your skin. You might find that you have many of the ingredients you need in your kitchen cupboard. For example, if you have oily skin, you can mix lemon juice and brown sugar. You can put honey and water together to make a purifying mask too.

Have a Bath

Once you’ve taken care of your face, having a bath can help the rest of your body. Don’t take them too often, though, because they could dry out your skin. If you want to take a skin revitalising bath, look at some of the ingredients you used for your masks. Honey can soften your skin, while milk can be soothing.

You can revitalise your skin at home with some ingredients from your kitchen. But for something more luxurious, see a specialist.

Top Secret Tips: How I Keep My Skin Looking Fresh And Clear

*This post contains affiliate links*

Every lady out there wants clear looking skin. Believe me, I know that it can be a struggle. After all, it seems that some people have skin that is always clear, yet the rest of us tend to get blemishes. As you know, I just can’t get enough when it comes to beauty. I love new products and tips. With that in mind, I thought I would share some top secret (shh!) information with you. Here is how I keep my skin looking fresh all the time!

1. Avoid tanning (if you can)

Tanning might make you look like a Goddess for a few weeks, but after that the sun damage will set in and impact your skin. If you have just spent a summer in the sun, you need to repair your skin. You should ensure that your start an aftercare plan sooner rather than later. You might not even see the signs of damage, but constant sunbathing will take its toll on your skin. It is that simple. Avoid tanning as much as you can.

2. Drink lots of water

You need to hydrate your skin, which means that you need to drink lots and lots of water. Remember, the more water you drink, the healthier you will feel. As we all know, there are loads of health benefits to drinking water, yet few of us bother. When you hydrate yourself, your skin will begin to glow. Avoid sweet drinks as they can cause blemishes. Instead, when you’re thirsty, head to the tap and have a refreshing glass of water.

3. Find an excellent night cream

Do you use a night cream at the moment? When you are young, you should start using a cream before you go to bed. This trick will help you avoid wrinkles as you age. Of course, if you have already begun to develop wrinkles, there are other options. The cream won’t work once the lines appear, and so you might want to try botox. That way, you can keep your skin looking youthful no matter what. Before you get to that stage, though, you should use the cream on a regular basis. It might just solve the problem!

4. Steam, ice, steam

Do you suffer from blackheads and spots? Well, you’re not alone. You may have thought that these things would go away when you became a young adult, but that’s not always the case! In fact, many young women struggle with this issue. One thing that works is the steam, ice, steam option. If you have a steam and ice room at your gym, use them. If not, you can do this trick at home. First, you need to steam your pores as this will open them up. You can put a towel over a bowl of hot water. Next, rub ice on your face. I’m serious – this will work. Finally, you need to steam your face again. This method of contracting and opening your pores will cleanse them of dirt.

So there you have it – my secrets to fresh skin. If you start following these tips, you should see that there is a difference. Don’t forget to come back again soon when I’ll be sharing some more hot tips!

M-Eyebrows | Beauty

I know ya’ll think the title of today’s post is genius.

There is nothing better than ending your bank holiday weekend with a cup of hot chocolate whilst writing a blog post. It was a good weekend too. I went to see the new Big Bang Comics store. I am a big fan of those lads and was delighted to see them move to a bigger unit. They needed it. I also went to see Antman AND Jurrasic World. Seriously good movies. Highly recommended.

Anyway, I just wanted to do a quick post on my eyebrows because I have gotten them done for the first time in a year and I feel like a new woman. I always go to Benefit’s Brow Bar in Arnotts in Dublin. I normally get a wax and tint. I go for the tint because there are days I might not wear make up, or when I am at the gym, and it is nice to have a bit of colour on my brows. One of the main reasons I consistently return to Benefit is because my natural brow shape is very similar to their signature brow arch so their process works well for me. Of course finding a brow artist is something that takes time and Benefit may not be the place to suit you so I recommend trying a few places and methods until you find one you are happy with,

I have also been using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow pomade now I have tamed my brows. I have been trying to find a brand that does a pomade I could buy in Ireland and I had no luck. i had heard the ABH pomade was good though, if not a bit pricey. Elysian Brows on South William Street popped up in my searches as stocking the pomade so I went over to them for a chat and to get myself kitted out. I got the pomade in chocolate which is a medium to dark shade and also picked up the Anastasia Beverly Hills number 12 brush which is a dual ended eyebrow brush with an angled brush at one end and a spoolie at the other. Altogether I spent €55 on the two but I must say it is worth it. I have been using the product for almost two weeks and have barely made a dint in it and I use it every day. You need very little product as it gives a lot of coverage and also the brush is the perfect tool for application. An added bonus is that you can wash the brush and get a very long time out of it. Check out my before and after pictures below. You can check Elysian Brows out here.

I realise my brows may not have been entirely ‘on fleek’ today as I was in a rush, you can see them in better form on instagram, but you get an idea of the product anyway. I highly recommended.

On Wednesday I will be working on judging the Health and Wellbeing category for Blog Awards Ireland so instead of a post from me I will be featuring my next “how I am spending my summer” piece from Jade Rebecca over at

Have a great week guys!

Pay Day Haul

Hi Guys
I got paid during the week and in typical Lynn Jo fashion spent way too much money on things I don’t really think I needed.

I thought I would share my purchases with you. I only have intentions to post reviews of two of these so if you want to see anymore please do let me know!

As you can see I got some essentials, deodorant and dry shampoo but I also got a brush as the brush I was using was definitely more suited to my longer length hair than the shorter length I am rocking now.
I also got a 3 step system from Clinique to try as I wasn’t quite happy with my skin care anymore. I always use products for spot prone skin but the consultant said I should be using something more for oily skin which I am now trying. I will post a review on this in a number of weeks. I got a free gift of eye make up remover and mascara when I bought these.
I was starting to run out of concealer so I bought a Natural Collection green tinted concealer to try cancel out any redness in my skin and also a Revlon concealer in fair to conceal under my eyes and also to give a highlight effect.
I bought a Soap and Glory bronzer and highlighter in place of not being able to get a contour palette here. I am enjoying these as they give a very natural contour effect which is more suited to work. I also got a powder brush to apply my highlighter.
The final product I got was Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Browas I have been dying to try it out. I got a brush to us with it also. This is a product I have been lusting after for a long time and I will post on it during the week.
Have a great week guys!

Summer Is Coming! How I’m Going To Look After My Face In The Sun

*This post may contain affiliate links*
The weather is finally getting warmer, and I can start making plans for this summer’s garden parties. The great thing about the sun coming out is you have more daylight hours to get things done and you feel more energised to do them. The bad thing about the sun coming out is looking after my skin can be harder work than in the winter. I may have prevented all the lip chapping that usually happens in the winter, but I know the summer can cause just as much damage.
Sunscreen is just one small part of protecting the skin from the effects of the heat and the sun. Drinking plenty of water is key to staying hydrated all year round. This year, I’m going to add some extra moisturiser to my bedtime routine to get my skin soft and supple, ready to bear the sun. My face is the area I’m most worried about. I don’t want red cheeks or nose from sun exposure!
Starting from the top, my forehead is prone to being a little dry, so regular exfoliating takes those dead cells off. If I sweat, my makeup can clog into my eyebrows. Using a little chapstick (and I mean little), just above them prevents any colour leaking into them. Sunglasses are a must to stop frown lines in this area from squinting at the light. A lighter moisturiser around the T-zone also helps keep my skin more evenly hydrated.
Sunscreen in your eyes is incredibly painful. Make sure you have a high SPF eye shadow to avoid needing to get sunscreen anywhere near them. Some mascaras include sun protection too. Waterproof is the way to go in the summer if you’re by the pool. The bridge of my nose rarely burns in the sun, but I’ve seen some girls with painful peeling there. You can use zinc sticks or try a higher SPF in your base makeup.
With the delights of summer fast approaching, I want my smile to look fabulous. I have a great recipe for homemade lip scrub to keep sore lips at bay. Light pink glosses are great for the summer months too. The glossier, the better for me! But keep in mind you will regularly be applying SPF chapstick to avoid your lips suffering in the sun. A sticky gloss will be a problem here.
White teeth in summer are key to a perfect sunny smile. Internet pages like can offer lots of tips on how to whiten your teeth. If you are looking at consuming lots of frozen lollies to keep you cool, pop to your dentist. Ask her to check your teeth are in tip top shape, and ready to tackle those cold treats.
The sun is great for making our skin look gorgeous, with lovely, natural tans. The trouble is you can never be too careful. Every burn can be very harmful to your health, and prolonged, unprotected exposure to the sun can even cause cancer. Invest in a good hat, top up the sun cream, and keep cool to make the most of this summer.

My Secret Summer Beauty Tips | You’re going to LOVE them!

*may contain affiliate links*

Is there any better season than summer? I don’t think so, and I’m sure that you will all agree! With summer making its way with lightening speed, most we are thinking about how we can up our beauty regimen. After all, the summer means parties, festivals and lazy days in the beer garden. We’re social butterflies during the summer, and we all want to look fabulous.

I’m going to let you in on some of my favourite, secret summer beauty tips. You’re sure to love them as much as I do.

Preventing Dry Hair

The sea salt of the beach and the beating sun is a beautiful thing. But, our hair! It can be so dry and brittle once the sun has attacked it. If you want to keep your hair intact this summer, use an enriched oil or foam on your hair as an intense treatment on a weekly basis. I don’t have a favourite brand. I usually find that non-branded products work just as well.

Products like Profollica are great for your hair. They are perfect for encouraging body, shine and thickness. It’s just what the doctor ordered for preventing sun damage to your hair. If you want to find out more, check out this review of Profollica. You’ll be surprised at the benefits.

Ditch Heavy Foundation

Okay, so we all want to have flawless skin. But, during the summer, the heat can cause breakouts. The oily nature of foundation only adds to the problem. My favourite summer beauty hack is to use a simple primer and a slick of powdered bronzer. That way, you can make sure that your skin looks gorgeous and soft, but the bronzer gives you that all important sun-kissed look.

Don’t go too heavy on the bronzer, as you will look like you have orange streaks! Keep it simple, and sun-kissed. Always add lashings of sooty black mascara and a bright red lipstick for a super dramatic look that works for both day and night.

If you do feel a little too self-conscious and you don’t want to bare your face all summer long, a loose mineral based powder should do the trick. It’s light and will allow your skin to breathe!

Scrub, Scrub, Scrub!

Scrubs are your best friend during the summer. But, it’s all about investing in the right scrubs. Never use anything with a citrus base as it can aggravate sun-kissed (or burnt!) skin. Always use something soothing that aloe or milk based extracts. That way, your skin can feel the benefit without being too harshly aggravated. Never over scrub either. Twice per week is enough. You don’t want to damage your delicate skin.

Nail Polish Problems

A professional manicure and pedicure is not always achievable. But, we love to have gorgeous nails for the summer. To stop your nail polish from becoming hard and bubbly during the summer months, keep it in the fridge.

Yes, you may raise a few eyebrows while doing it. It’s the simplest way to have fabulous, streak free nails all summer long!

What are your favourite beauty tips for summer?
